1. Turn on the remote
Open one of your boards under Account → Soundboards and press Turn on remote at the bottom. Any public board can have one; a private board needs Premium. You get three things:
- an OBS overlay link,
- a phone link, with a QR code to scan,
- a trigger URL for every sound, and one for Stop all.
2. Add the overlay to OBS
The overlay is the board’s transparent OBS browser source that also listens to your remote. It replaces the plain OBS link and still works from the Interact window.
- In OBS or Streamlabs, add a Browser source and paste the OBS overlay link into URL.
- Tick Control audio via OBS so the board gets its own slider in the Audio Mixer.
- Leave Shutdown source when not visible unticked, so the overlay keeps listening when you switch scenes.
- Add the source to every scene you stream from, or keep it in one scene and add that scene to the others.
3. Play from your phone
Scan the QR code, or open the phone link on any phone, tablet or second computer. The remote shows OBS connected while the overlay is open. Tap a sound to play it on stream, tap a looping sound again to stop it, and use Stop all to silence everything. Add the page to your home screen to open it like an app.
4. Stream Deck and other button apps
Each trigger URL plays one sound when something opens it. Copy them from the Trigger URLs list on your board.
- Stream Deck: drag a Website action (System) onto a key, paste the trigger URL and tick GET request in background so your browser stays closed. Any plugin that sends a web request works too.
- Touch Portal: an HTTP GET action with the trigger URL.
- Streamer.bot: a Fetch URL sub-action with the trigger URL, inside any action you like.
5. Let chat trigger sounds
Any chat bot that can fetch a URL can play a sound. With Nightbot, add a command in your chat:
!commands add !airhorn $(urlfetch YOUR-TRIGGER-URL)Nightbot replies with the sound’s name. A remote plays at most 20 sounds every 10 seconds, so chat can’t flood your stream. Use Nightbot’s cooldown and user level settings to choose who may use the command.
Keep your links private
Anyone with these links can play sounds on your stream, so never show the remote panel or the overlay link on stream. If a link leaks, press Get new links on your board and paste the new overlay link into OBS. The old links then stop working.
Troubleshooting
The remote says “Waiting for OBS”
Check that the source uses the OBS overlay link, not the plain OBS link, and that it isn’t set to shut down when not visible. Right-click the source and press Refresh.
OBS plays it, but the stream doesn’t
Tick Control audio via OBS and check the source’s slider in the Audio Mixer.
Testing the overlay in a browser tab
Click the page once first. Browsers keep a page silent until you interact with it; OBS doesn’t.
“Too many triggers”
The 20-sounds-per-10-seconds limit was reached. Wait a few seconds.
